πŸš’ CONGRATULATIONS & JOB WELL DONE! πŸš’

Help us congratulate Engineer Kudrna and Engineer Gamboa!

Both engineers recently traveled to the National Fire Academy in Emmitsburg, Maryland, where they underwent rigorous training to sharpen their skills and bring the highest level of expertise back home.

We truly appreciate their hard work, sacrifice, and dedication. By continually striving to better themselves, they in turn better the Northern Arizona Fire District and the community we swear to protect.

Thank you both for leading by example and representing NAFD so well on a national stage!

Last night, we had the honor of recognizing the incredible individuals who make the Northern Arizona Fire District stronger every single day during our End of the Year Employee Recognition Ceremony.
This evening was about more than awards, it was about recognizing dedication, professionalism, compassion, leadership, and commitment to both our organization and the community we proudly serve.

Please join us in congratulating this year’s award recipients:
πŸ”₯ Firefighter of the Year – Colin McMullen
πŸ”₯ Fire Officer of the Year – CJ Gore
πŸš‘ EMS Provider of the Year – Kenneth Cameron
πŸ”₯ POC Employee of the Year – Tyler Edwards
πŸ‘ Volunteer(s) of the Year – Tim McCoy & Cody Delgado
πŸ† Fire Chief Award – Don Dallman
🐾 Ember Award – Matthew McDowell

We also proudly recognized members who have dedicated 5+ years of service to NAFD. Your continued commitment, sacrifice, and service are deeply appreciated and help shape the culture and future of this organization.

The Ember Award holds a special meaning within our department as it is named after Ember, the first in-house certified therapy dog in Mohave County. This award recognizes compassion, commitment to others, and unwavering dedication to the well-being of our personnel and organization.

To all of our members: career, volunteers, friends and families, thank you for everything you do. We are proud of where this organization is today and excited for where we are headed together.

Over the past 2 weeks all of our crews had the opportunity to spend the day training with Chris Sleigher focusing on Tactical House Management.
The morning session focused on the β€œwhy” behind the tactics, understanding decision-making, fire behavior considerations, crew coordination, and the importance of disciplined operations on the fireground. The afternoon transitioned into hands-on practical drills where personnel were able to apply those concepts in realistic scenarios.
Training like this is critical. It builds confidence, sharpens decision-making, and strengthens our ability to operate safely and effectively when our community needs us most.
A huge thank you to Chris Sleigher for taking the time to share his knowledge, experience, and passion for the fire service with our personnel today. We appreciate the investment in our department and our people.

Effective May 21, 2026, Mohave County has issued a proclamation prohibiting all open fires and permissible consumer fireworks throughout the county due to increased fire danger and hazardous weather conditions.

🚫 The following are prohibited:
β€’ Campfires and warming fires
β€’ Open burning
β€’ Consumer fireworks
β€’ All burn permits have been canceled
β€’ No new burn permits will be issued

βœ… UL-approved petroleum-fueled stoves, lanterns, and heating devices are exempt.
These restrictions are necessary to help prevent human-caused wildfires and protect our communities, firefighters, and public lands during extreme heat, low humidity, high winds, and dry vegetation conditions.

We appreciate everyone doing their part to keep Mohave County safe this fire season.
