On Tuesday Chief Stewart accompanied our very own Captain Michael Pickett Jr. and other first responders who have been catastrophically injured in the line of Duty at the annual Backstoppers Luncheon.

Captain Pickett served with The New Kinloch Fire Protection District for over 25 years and while on duty responding to a vehicle accident on the highway suffered a massive hemorrhagic stroke on scene. Thanks to the quick life saving action treatment, care, and transport by our partners of the Northeast Ambulance and Fire Protection District Captain Pickett is still with us today, however his career and ability to work and support his family ended that night and The BackStoppers Inc. immediately stepped in and provided very much needed and appreciated financial support to Captain Pickett and his family. When this terrible catastrophic injury occurred Captain Pickett had a wife who still loves and cares for him today, and a daughter who was a highschool senior at the time preparing to go off to college. It was backstoppers who stepped in and provided the means for Captain Picketts family to continue to thrive providing tuition assistance for his daughter and assistance taking care of medical expenses and home expenses. Through the generous donations from people like 🫵🏾🫵🏾🫵🏾 YOU!!! Backstoppers is able to continue their mission taking care of our own when they can no longer take care of us.

SUPPORT BACKSTOPPERS!!!! THANK YOU TO Col. O’TOOLE AND THE BACKSTOPPERS ORGANIZATION FOR YOUR UNWAVERING SUPPORT AND CONTINUING TO CARRY OUT YOUR MISSION TAKING CARE OF OUR FALLEN AND INJURED HEROES AND THEIR FAMILIES! 🚒👩🏾‍🚒🧑‍🚒🚔👮‍♂️👮🏾🚑🚨

We are in need of silent auction items for our golf scramble on October 2nd from fantastic supporters like you 💙🧡 We always appreciate experiences and bigger items but are also in search of some smaller items.

Gift cards towards experience nights (like movie tickets, dinner, etc) or baskets to create (like a bourbon basket) are always very popular. We’ve seen groups of friends or colleagues contribute to a basket together to come up with a really memorable experience for golfers to bid on.

Items can be brought to 517 S Illinois Street between 9 and 4. You can also message us and we will work out a pick up.

The golf scramble is our single biggest fundraiser of the year. In the last almost seven years, we’ve donated over $350,000 to first responders and their families with 85% being reinvested in southern Illinois and Missouri.
