🦊 A little bit of the reality behind NNWR… ❤️
Right now, NNWR is closed to intakes of squirrels, opossums, and fawns.
And I want people to understand why.
I wish I could save them all.
I really, really do.
If I had unlimited time, unlimited space, unlimited money, and unlimited energy, I would probably have a building full of wildlife. 😂
But the truth is… NNWR is one woman.
Just me.
I’m a mom. I’m a wife. I have a job. I have a home and animals and responsibilities outside of rescue. There are only so many hours in a day, and only so much one person can physically, mentally, and financially take on.
Sometimes that means saying “I can’t.”
And honestly? That sucks.
Because when someone calls about a tiny squirrel, a baby opossum, or a fawn that needs help, my first instinct is to say bring it to me.
But rescue isn’t just about wanting to help. It’s about being able to provide the space, care, time, resources, and attention that animal deserves.
I would rather say no than say yes and stretch myself so thin that I can’t give the animals already in my care what they need.
That doesn’t mean I’ve given up on the bigger dream, though. ❤️
I’m slowly keeping one eye open for that perfect piece of land.
Someday, I want NNWR to have a real facility. A place with proper enclosures, room to grow, volunteers who want to help, and the ability to take in more animals than I ever could alone.
I want to build something that can be bigger than me.
But land costs money. Building costs money. Wildlife rehabilitation costs money.
So for now, it’s a dream.
And that’s okay.
For now, I’ll keep doing what I can, with what I have, when I can.
I may not be able to save every animal, But the ones I can help?
They matter.
And maybe someday, with enough support and a whole lot of hard work, NNWR will grow into the place I dream it can be.
Until then, thank you for understanding that sometimes loving wildlife means knowing when you’ve reached your limit. 🦊❤️🌿
One woman. One rescue. One animal at a time.
