On Tuesday night June 23rd Sandy Bottom Volunteer Fire and Rescue held our annual meeting.
During this time we took an opportunity to recognize our Lenoir County graduates that received scholarships through the fire department and the Fisher and Rhodes family’s.
Each graduate received a $3,000 check to further their education.
The graduates and their families were invited to attend the meeting and enjoyed a meal and fellowship with the members that were present.
We also took the time to dedicate
Sandy Bottom Engine 2 in the memory of the late Mr. George W. Fisher, III who had served our fire department as a long time member holding positions of Fire Chief and President during his tenure.
We were honored to have some of his family present and be a part of the dedication ceremony.
A bronze plaque was added to the pump panel of the engine to show significance of this honor.
Recipients of the scholarships are as follows:
Ashton Rhodes scholarship:
Layla Whitfield
Jaelyn Burkett
Brayden Burd
Miken Williams (not present)
Ashton Rhodes legacy scholarship:
Carley Boone
George W. Fisher, III scholarship:

Presentation of the checks:

Sandy Bottom Fire and Rescue would like to wish these young men and ladies all the best in their future endeavors.
