Hey City of Kinston, North Carolina, Did you know that simply closing your bedroom door before going to sleep can significantly increases your chances of surviving a house fire. Fires spread fast, but a closed door can make a life-saving difference by slowing the spread of smoke, heat, and toxic gases.

- Slows Fire Spread: Gives you more time to escape or be rescued.

- Limits Exposure to Smoke: Smoke inhalation is the leading cause of fire-related deaths. A closed door reduces your exposure.

- Preserves Oxygen Levels: Keeping your door closed can help maintain breathable air in your room longer.

- Improves Firefighter Rescue Efforts: Containing the fire helps firefighters navigate and extinguish it more efficiently.

Don't forget to Close Before You Doze.

City of Kinston, North Carolina. Today we remember those on 9/11/2001 who made the ultimate sacrifice in New York City, Washington, D.C., and the brave heroes of Flight 93. FDNY firefighters and medics, NYPD, and the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey, along with numerous civilians. Nearly 3,000 people started their day not knowing it would be their last. It has been 25 years since that horrific day, but we remember it as if it were yesterday. We share their stories with the younger generations to honor and protect their memories. May we never forget

Heads up City of Kinston, North Carolina. I'm sure everyone is well aware that it is hot... It's been hot, and it will probably stay hot! Use caution today while doing outdoor activities. Take frequent breaks, drink plenty of water, and, if at all possible, stay away from alcoholic beverages. Besides it being miserably hot, there is a chance of severe weather this evening and more widespread storms tomorrow. Be sure to keep an eye on the weather with our local US National Weather Service Newport/Morehead City NC
