In the afternoon of Saturday, September 19 a fire occurred at the Pixley Solar Facility, owned and operated by Public Service Company of Oklahoma (PSO), near Medicine Lodge, Kansas. Local fire response teams are on site responding to the fire, according to established protocols and the specialized guidance they’ve received for this type of incident at the Pixley facility.
No injuries have been reported, and there is no current danger to the environment or human health from the fire. The cause of the fire is under investigation.
We are still assessing damage, and next steps for this facility will be determined by the post-incident root-cause analysis in collaboration with the site operations team and PSO leadership.
PSO continues to monitor the site with full-time staff and fire crews on site to ensure continued safety. We will perform a full site assessment to determine what post-event environmental analysis is needed.
