The City of Kirby has received the following update from Astound regarding the ongoing service outage:
Repair crews report that fiber splicing is approximately 25% complete.

However, the restoration process has been slowed by the condition of the damaged fiber. Crews are encountering sections of fiber that have become extremely brittle and are breaking during the splicing process.

As a result, technicians must proceed with extra care to avoid further damage, which is extending the time required to complete repairs.

At this time, there is no estimated time of restoration (ETR) available.

Splicing crews are currently working on the Cornerway enclosure as restoration efforts continue.
Astound reports that the Riyadh crossing portion of the restoration has been successfully completed, marking a significant milestone in the overall recovery process.

Crews have now shifted operations to the Springfield side, where repair work is actively underway.

At this time, there is no estimated time of restoration (ETR) available.

📢 City of Kirby Service Outage Update

The City of Kirby has received the following update from Astound regarding the ongoing internet and phone service outage affecting City operations.
Astound has confirmed that the outage is the result of a major fiber break impacting their backbone network.

According to field crews, repairs will require a complete replacement of the damaged fiber segment located at a major IH-35 highway crossing.
Due to the location of the damage, the Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT) will not permit the temporary closure of IH-35 until 10:00 PM tonight. In the meantime, field teams are actively coordinating emergency permits, traffic control measures, and law enforcement support to ensure repairs can begin as soon as the highway closure is authorized.

Crews and equipment are being staged and prepared for immediate response once access is granted.
At this time, there is no estimated time of restoration (ETR) available. We will continue to share updates as they are provided.

Hemos recibido una actualizacin con respecto a la interrupcin del servicio que actualmente afecta a los servicios de internet y telefona de la Ciudad de Kirby.

Se ha determinado que la causa de la interrupcin es la rotura de una lnea de fibra ptica. Se han enviado cuadrillas al lugar, las cuales han confirmado que la conexin de fibra de la ciudad fue derribada en un cruce de carretera. Debido a la necesidad de cerrar la carretera para realizar las reparaciones de manera segura, no se podr acceder al sitio hasta después de las 9:00 p. m.
