October has been ๐‘ฉ๐‘ผ๐‘บ๐’€ at KCFD. Like, ๐’๐’–๐’“ ๐’”๐’๐’„๐’Š๐’‚๐’ ๐’Ž๐’†๐’…๐’Š๐’‚ ๐’ˆ๐’Š๐’“๐’ ๐’๐’†๐’†๐’…๐’” ๐’‚ ๐’”๐’๐’„๐’Š๐’‚๐’ ๐’Ž๐’†๐’…๐’Š๐’‚ ๐’ˆ๐’Š๐’“๐’ kind of busy. ๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿ“ธ

Between Wednesday night trainings, weekend drills, hands-on scenarios, and everything else that goes into keeping our crew ready, thereโ€™s been a whole lot happening behind the scenes. And unfortunately, our photographer/social media girl only has so many hours in a day and so many pictures she can take before she starts needing a nap, too. ๐Ÿคฃ

So, while we may not be posting as frequently as usual, donโ€™t mistake the silence for a lack of tenacity.

๐„๐•๐„๐‘๐˜. ๐’๐ˆ๐๐†๐‹๐„. ๐–๐„๐„๐Š. Our members are putting in the work. The hours. The sweat. The repetition. The not-so-glamorous stuff that happens long before the tones ever drop. Training isnโ€™t always pretty, and it sure as hell isnโ€™t always convenient, but itโ€™s what prepares our people to show up when our community needs them most.

You might not see every drill, every late night, every weekend spent learning, or every ounce of effort that goes into this job. But trust us, ๐“๐‡๐ˆ๐’ ๐‚๐‘๐„๐– ๐ˆ๐’ ๐–๐Ž๐‘๐Š๐ˆ๐๐†.

๐Ÿš’Yesterdayโ€™s Open House was one for the books! We had such a wonderful turnout, and there was nothing better than watching all the kids run from one experience to the next, taking it all in and having an absolute BLAST! ๐Ÿƒ๐Ÿปโ€โ™€๏ธ๐ŸƒSeeing their excitement, curiosity, and big smiles made every bit of the hard work worth it. We couldnโ€™t have asked for a more beautiful dayโ˜€๏ธto welcome our community into the firehouse!

An event like this takes a whole lot of helping hands, and we have so many people to thank for helping make it such a success!๐Ÿ™Œ๐Ÿผ

Tonight was a special one for the Kirkland Fire Department. Weโ€™re incredibly grateful to everyone from our community who joined us for coffee, cake, good conversation, and a little piece of fire service tradition.

Having our community there to watch our firefighters push Engine 1 into service for the very first time made this moment even more meaningful.

๐Ÿ”ฅWhen our new Engine 1 returns to the station for the very first time, it wonโ€™t simply be parked, it will be ๐’‘๐’–๐’”๐’‰๐’†๐’… ๐’Š๐’ by hand, honoring a fire service tradition that dates back to the days of horse-drawn apparatus. After horses were unhitched, firefighters would gather together and physically push their equipment back into the firehouse. More than a century later, departments across the country continue this tradition as a symbol of teamwork, pride, and a new chapter of service.

While our Push-In Ceremony may be a small event, it represents something very big to us. It marks the official start of Engine 1โ€™s service to the Kirkland community and celebrates the people, partnerships, and support that made it possible.

From an INCREDIBLE band HILLBILLY ROCKSTARZ ๐ŸŽธ, DELICIOUS food from Slow Smoke BBQ ๐Ÿ– , the YUMMIEST treats from Little O's Frozen Treats๐Ÿฆ, and our FABULOUS bartenders serving up the best ice-cold drinks๐Ÿป, we couldnโ€™t have asked for a better evening. But more than anything, we are grateful for the people who filled our firehouse, danced with us, laughed with us, celebrated with us and continued to show up for their volunteer fire department.๐Ÿ™Œ๐Ÿผ

Our Chief certainly felt the love on his birthday, and weโ€™re pretty sure thereโ€™s no better way to celebrate than surrounded by the people who make this community so special. โค๏ธ
