Hey, friends! I've had some people ask whether we have any kind of rally planned for before the midterms, and I want to let you all know that the committee does not, as of now. The Dorn campaign is door knocking in Ford City on Saturday 10/17 if you'd like to come out, and all of the campaigns will be engaged in efforts to get out the vote in these last few weeks--reach out to Dustyn Dorn for PA House District 60, Andrew Harbaugh for PA and Ray Bilger for Congress for ways you can help, is what I'd advise, or contact us here at Armstrong County Democratic Committee and Friends for other volunteer opportunities. If you're interested in being a poll watcher there are trainings scheduled here: https://www.mobilize.us/pacoordinated2026/event/991304/ and you can always contact people you know who may need a ride to the polls, and remind everyone that they can do early voting in person at the courthouse, too. Frankly, one of the best things you can do to support all the folks who would like for us to get a chance to fix this country somehow is to just talk to the people in your lives--lots of good people don't vote and chances are you know some. The deadline to register to vote in November is Oct 19 and even if you just spam everyone in your contacts* with a friendly reminder or cajole or guilt trip or ultimatum or whatever it takes lol to get these fascists under some control, please!

That said, I'm never one to discourage a good demonstration of solidarity! I am already committed to canvass, but anyone who would like to get some people together in the park on the 17th, I can hook you up with campaign signs 🤩 you know you love to see 'em! Show Armstrong County some sense! 💪🤨

*So, I'm not saying, you know, remind alllll of your relatives to vote 😅🤫😉 iykyk 🙄

If you would be interested in volunteering as a poll observer for the upcoming election, there are several training opportunities available; let us know by attending our meeting this Tuesday (10/6 at the Belmont Complex, 6:30PM) or emailing [email protected] :

Poll Observers are the eyes and ears on the ground at polling places across the state on election day. They assist voters and ensure that every eligible voter can cast a ballot. We will train, assign, and support you to make sure that you are as effective as possible on Election Day.

How can someone just vanish while in ICE custody? Under President Donald Trump, the U.S. increasingly sends detained immigrants all over the nation with little warning, leaving families and attorneys unsure where they are.⁠

These quick and repeated transfers have become more common in Trump's second term, our investigation found in June. ⁠
⁠
From the final year of the Biden administration to the first year of Trump’s latest term, the number of people transferred five or more times more than tripled. The number of people transferred out of state within 24 hours more than doubled, according to our analysis of ICE detention data obtained by the Deportation Data Project.⁠

Immigration lawyers say the many transfers not only cause undue suffering but have significantly undermined due process protections. Because detained people have limited access to phones while in transit, and ICE’s detainee locator isn’t always accurate, immigration attorneys say rapid transfers can leave people unreachable for hours or even days. Families can lose track of their relatives, while lawyers struggle to locate or speak with clients.⁠
