Today, September 11, 2026, marks 25 years since our nation was forever changed.

On that morning in 2001, nearly 3,000 innocent people lost their lives, including 343 members of the New York City Fire Department, 23 New York City Police Department officers, and 37 Port Authority Police officers who made the ultimate sacrifice while responding to the attacks.

Twenty-five years later, we remember their courage, their sacrifice, and the countless first responders who ran toward danger while others were running away.

We also remember the families who lost loved ones, the survivors who continue to carry the memories of that day, and the generations of Americans who have grown up knowing September 11 as a defining moment in our nation's history.

As members of law enforcement, we are especially mindful of the oath taken by those who responded that morning: to protect and serve, regardless of the personal risk.
