Kittrell Fire Department was at Kittrell Head start today. We talked about and demonstrated how we use some of our safety gear, discussed and passed out literature pertaining to fire safety and prevention. Everyone had a great time and went home with more knowledge about Fire prevention and safety.

Sorry. Long post. So let's go back to last year. Kittrell Fire Department conducted a fire prevention and safety event at Kittrell Headstart Center. There was a young man there named Kyzen along with many other children.
Since it was close to Halloween the kids were dressed in costumes his was a firefighter. Kittrell Fire department and all of the kids had a great time learning about fire safety and prevention.
Fast forward to today almost a year later and we meet Kyzen again. This time his grandfather brought him to the station and asked if we could help.
We said sure we will do what we can. The request was to retrieve a drone for the young man out of a very dense cedar tree around 30-40' tall. No small task. So what do you do when you have several certified Rope Technicians around. You train !!
Kyzen is still excited about possibly being a Firefighter one day.
It was a good day for all. Successful rope training and Kyzen has his drone back.

Morning history. Random find from Vance County and a new delivery for the Kittrell Vol. Fire Dept. The Ford/E-One (?) top-mount pumper was recently placed in service. It was bought with a state grant and $1,200 that was "raised locally." It's pictured in a Henderson Daily Dispatch photo by Brandy Rivers in the August 12, 1997, issue.
