With deep sadness, the Wishram Fire Department would like to inform our community of the passing of our Assistant Chief, Jeff Augustus.

On August 17, the Wishram Fire Department responded to Jeff’s residence. Upon arrival, we sadly found that Jeff had passed away.

Jeff was a dedicated member of the Wishram Fire Department, giving 20 years of service to our department and community. His commitment, friendship, and dedication will be deeply missed by his fellow firefighters, family, friends, and the entire Wishram community.

Edited to reflect time change!

PSA: Your Klickitat volunteer firefighters will be flushing the town hydrants tomorrow, June 22, around 1:00 PM. This helps ensure that all the hydrants are functioning properly, removes debris from the town water pipes, and is required by the Washington State Insurance Rating Bureau. You may see temporary discoloration of your household water, as some of the sediments in the pipes will get dislodged in the process. We apologize for any temporary inconvenience this may cause.

FYI - our volunteers will be out in the community this evening (6-8pm) in our fire gear and driving our fire vehicles for training tonight. Please do not be alarmed - there is no actual fire in/around town.

Needs Request!
The Klickitat Fire Department is looking for donations of three medium-large sized hard-sided coolers for storage of beverages and food supplies when we get deployed on fires. We often work long and sometimes overnight shifts, and having cold beverages handy is invaluable. We'd obviously love some YETI, RTIC, or similar coolers, but any donation would be appreciated. Thank you!

Reminder: tomorrow is the beginning of the 2026 Burn Ban for Klickitat County Zones 1 & 2, which includes the town of Klickitat and the campgrounds along Highway 142.
