Have you received a sudden text or phone call warning that your iCloud has been breached, suspicious Apple Pay charges were made, or your device is locked? Don’t fall for it, it’s a scam. Fraudsters frequently spoof caller ID to display “Apple Support” or send realistic looking text messages and calls with links designed to steal your credentials. They rely on panic, claiming your personal data or finances are at immediate risk if you don’t act right away.

Here is what you need to remember: Apple will never make unsolicited phone calls to warn you about account security, nor will they text you links asking for your Apple Account password, device passcode, or two factor authentication codes. If you receive an urgent call, hang up immediately. and call us. If you get a suspicious text, never tap the link or call the number provided in the message. When in doubt, log in to your account directly through official settings or reach out through verified support channels at support.apple.com.

If anyone asks you to pay a debt, fee, or fine with gift cards, hang up immediately, this is 100% a scam. Fraudsters often pose as government agencies, tech support, law enforcement, or utility companies, using panic and high pressure threats to demand payment via Apple, Target, Google Play, or retail gift cards. No legitimate business or government entity will ever accept or demand gift cards as payment. The moment you read those numbers off the back of the card, your money is gone for good.

We have been receiving calls about scams in our area. Please be aware and protect yourself!
