KKB is excited to recognize Matt Hoover as our Volunteer of the Month! Matt is a dedicated and knowledgeable volunteer who is a familiar face at KKB's cleanups and invasive removals. We especially appreciate his work at the Third Creek Paddle, where he helped clear invasive species from along the banks of Third Creek. Huge shoutout to Tennessee Valley Authority for coming out in full force at todayβs First Creek cleanup! ππ Together, volunteers removed around 900 lbs of litter from the First Creek and N Broadway area, including 34 bags of trash and some very interesting finds. Among the items picked up were a full computer and monitor, parts of a car, wooden pallets, the back of a weight bench, and pieces of an old bed and bed frame! Thank you for your hard work!

The KKB team has been conducting our annual Litter Survey this past week! ππ This is where we evaluate a select group of roads - ranging from busy state highways to quiet suburban streets - in each area of Knoxville and rate the amount of litter on a scale 1 to 4. This helps us know where to concentrate our efforts and see the impact our volunteers are having!
Overall, the litter scores have been a lot lower this year, which is amazing! Thank you to all our volunteers, community members, and supporters who are keeping our city clean, green, and beautiful! π
