This Thursday, November 15th, feel free to join us during month 3 of 4 of our beta-series 'Poetry Lounge @ Sights & Sounds" on the 2nd Floor of Lawson McGhee Library downtown Knoxville where we have two amazing features sharing their words and favorite library stories and authors
FEATURED POETS:
Ryan Andrews & Joey Jennings
of The 5th Woman Touring Poetry Roster
About Ryan:
Ryan Andrews is a Poet, hairstylist and a single mother. Born in Massachusetts, raised in Connecticut and blossoming in good ole Tennessee. She has been a writer since childhood but relatively new to spoken word. Since 2016, she is learning and meeting new poets on the way. Sharing her experiences in life, love and relationships, with everyone willing to listen. Raw and unfiltered, she writes to activate and encourage self love and awareness. She is an active member of The Fifth Woman poetry collective. With whom she was blessed to perform at Bonnaroo music festival in 2018. She is eager to express herself and the mic is no stranger.
About Joey:
Joey Jennings is a spoken word poet and a professional drummer. He can be found pouring his heart out through foot-stomping rhythm and his affection for words.
In 2017, he released his debut album, “Gray Beard and is working on releasing his second album in the fall of 2018. The project is a warm compilation of groovy instrumentals with thought provoking spoken word vocals.
As far back as he can remember, he found himself scribbling down words to navigate life. Growing up as a drummer in the local Fort Myers, FL music scene, Jennings found artistic expression to be an important part of his learning to live with hope through vulnerability. By introducing spoken word, he found that the price of being vulnerable worth the impact of connecting with others on an intimate level.
