This month's bills are higher compared to September 2025 as average energy consumption increased 24% due to the heatwave we had last month. Our Customer Counselor team is here to help those who may have trouble paying their bill.

Our counselors work with about 200 partner agencies to connect customers in extenuating circumstances with bill assistance resources.

Giving back to our community is one of our key values as your local utility provider. That is why our employees help non-profits in our service area throughout the year through our Vol Time program.

Twice a year, we host a Week of Service where we partner with those non-profits to see where they need some help and encourage our employees to use their volunteer time in case they haven't already.

Last week, employees helped distribute food with Knoxville Dream Center, teach kids about STEM at Muse, and clean up some gardens at the Knoxville Botanical Gardens, just to name a few examples.

What would happen if you did not have water for a day?

Today is "Imagine a Day Without Water" Day, and we are joining millions across the country in recognizing the importance of clean water in our lives.

For the last 100 years, our Mark B. Whitaker Water Treatment Plant has turned water from the Tennessee River into high-quality drinking water for this community. This would not have been possible without clean source water from the Tennessee River and the skilled employees who work on our water system every day.

This September was one of the warmest on record, and your HVAC system was working around the clock to keep your home cool.

HVAC systems are the main drivers of higher usage as they have to work harder to maintain a comfortable temperature during extreme weather. When compared to last September, this year saw higher daytime temperatures as well as a longer billing cycle. Both of those things contributed to a 24% increase in usage compared to 2025.
