I've never given a concession speech before but dammit it was going to be a good one!!!

Tonight wasn't the result I wanted, but I won almost 27,000 votes, more than I ever expected!!

No one thought a 37 year old black man could run in an all white county, and tonight I proved that was possible. It's doable!!

I'm not sad, I'm not crushed, I'm ok lol

I did the damn thing and now I can take a much needed break!!!

Thanks for all the love, thoughts, well wishes!! God is good!!! This is not defeat! Only the beginning!!

90 minutes left!!!! If you get in line at 8:00 you can still vote!!!

Three more hours to go!! I know you're tired. You just got off work, the weather is ugly, traffic is backed up, and all you want to do is go home. But please, vote first!!! It matters. Your vote counts!!

It's finally here. I've knocked on countless doors, made a ton of phone calls, held events, went to candidate forums, distributed yard signs, buttons, stickers, been on TV, radio, in the paper passed out lit, yesterday sent out 10,000 texts, I've been to all 4 quadrants of Tennessee's 3rd largest county, I've probably put a good 5,000 miles on my car and by 8:00 pm, we'll see if the work paid off.

I've worked on campaigns since I was a kid so this was the natural progression. But working FOR a candidate is not the same as BEING the candidate. No class, no book, no training camp, no workshop can prepare you for this. I know what it's like on both sides of the coin now.

I said earlier this year I wanted to be stretched and challenged (because I know that's necessary to grow into the full person I'm supposed to be). Well I asked for it!! Best advice I can give anyone is don't ask to be the better version of yourself if you're not ready for it.

I've mentally prepared myself for either outcome. I will be well regardless. I'll be great regardless. There's tremendous work that needs to be done in our community and thankfully I have a job that allows me to do that work. Yes, holding an office gives me a bully pit to bring attention to issues but it's not the only way.

The polls stay open until 8:00 pm. Vote before you go to work, go on your lunch break, vote when you get home, ask your boss to allow you to leave if you have a lengthy shift (it's the law) don't let the weather deter you, don't think your vote doesn't matter or that your absence won't make a difference. Every. Single. Vote. Matters!!!

Good luck to all my fellow candidates across Tennessee!! Thanks to the voters for participating in our democracy. Let's win this!!

Early Voting has concluded. We have Sunday, Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, & finally, Thursday August 2nd left to make phone calls and knock on doors to get voters to the polls!

It's been an amazing ride, from the moment I picked up a petition, to shaking the hand of the last voter at the Love Kitchen today. But it's not over. There's still work to do! I encourage everyone to commit to calling 10 people and/or knocking on doors in your neighborhood and asking everyone you come in contact with for the next four days to vote!!! It will make a difference, it will matter. EVERY. VOTE. MATTERS!!!

As my campaign comes to a close, I want say Thank you from the bottom of my heart to everyone who volunteered, donated, put a sign in their yard, told their friends, family members, neighbors, and co-workers to vote for me, or even supported me from miles away. This has truly been a labor of love.

My first campaign as a candidate has meant more than I ever could have imagined. Thank you for believing in me, for having faith in me, and for trusting me with your vote. I think of voting as sacred. The fact so many would honor me with that sacred trust is overwhelming and humbling.

4 more days until Election Day. We can do this!!!
