A Message from Karns Fire Department:

Today’s demonstration, in partnership with the Knox County Fire Prevention Bureau, was all about showing how quickly a turkey fryer can turn a holiday into an emergency. A little moisture, an overfilled pot, or a partially frozen turkey is all it takes for flames to shoot several feet in the air.

This Thanksgiving, Karns Fire Department and Knox County Fire Prevention are asking you to slow down, stay with your cooking, use turkey fryers with extreme caution, or choose a safer way to cook your bird.

We want your family to enjoy the day, not call 911.
