What happens when veterinary medicine and library technology team up? 3D-printed surgical models and a feature on national TV! ๐ถ
UT College of Veterinary Medicine neurologist Dr. Talisha Moore was recently featured on Mission Unstoppable, the CBS program hosted by Miranda Cosgrove that highlights women making an impact in STEM fields.
The segment spotlighted Mooreโs work using 3D-printed spinal models and surgical guides to help make complex animal surgeries safer and more precise. Those models were printed by Richard Sexton, makerspace and technology coordinator at Pendergrass Library, whose behind-the-scenes expertise helps bring cutting-edge veterinary ideas to life. From tiny Yorkies to larger animals, this collaboration is making surgeries safer, more precise, and a whole lot less ruff, as the custom models allow surgeons to better plan delicate procedures and reduce the risk of error.
Printed in unmistakable UT orange, the models are proof that libraries are more than books; theyโre hubs for creativity, technology, and life-changing partnerships.
