Our 8th Veteran's Heritage Ridge Run will take place on April 25 2026. This year we have added a virtual 5k in addition to our annual Trail Run 5K, 10K Trail Ruck , 1 mile Fun Walk, and a sponsoring not walking opportunity. The local area JROTC teams will continue their quest to win and display the Ridge Cup at their school for the year.

Our participants in the 10K Ruck will carry 10 lbs representing the weight that our veterans with PTSD and homelessness carry with them every day. They are to fill their rucks with non-perishable food that they provide. It will be donated to 2nd Harvest Food Bank who will distribute it to local Veteran Food Banks.

This year we are promoting Mayor Glenn Jacobs Operation Hero's Hill in an effort to educate the public about this project and our county mayor's effort to supply housing for homeless veterans in Knoxvlle. VHSF will donate a portion of the proceeds to Operation Hero's Hill.

We are also partnering with R2 Factor who is working with the JROTC teams in this area. We are so proud to be able to promote their mission to Respect and Remember.

Please sign up for one of the runs. If you are not able to physically participate in a run, we can always use volunteers.

We are still needing sponsors, if you would like to sponsor please call Marilyn Childress 678-920-1989.

Thanks so much for supporting our JROTC, our Veterans and our wonderful Sharp's Ridge Veterans Memorial Park.

Great news. The Pastor tells a great story about his Dad. So glad he is getting the recognition he deserves.

President Donald Trump called Pastor Chris Edmonds to inform him that the nation will award the Medal of Honor to his late father, Master Sergeant Roddie Edmonds, a World War II soldier, whose defiance of German captors in a prisoner of war camp saved the lives of almost 200 fellow American troops.

The Knoxville native is the newest recipient of the military's highest and rarest award for valor. There are 15 current recipients of the Medal of Honor from East Tennessee, with pillars dedicated to them at the East Tennessee Veterans Memorial in downtown Knoxville.

"East Tennesseans and Knoxvillians have always responded to the call of their country and have come out in force," Scott Suchomski, a member of the memorial association, said. "That's very evident in our history books."
