When you tune into our live stream or hear audio across the sanctuary during Weekly Huddle, you aren't seeing an adult tech team behind the scenes.
You’re seeing our youth taking full ownership! From mixing sound at the board and running wireless mics, to framing live-stream camera shots from the balcony, to setting up and operating the computers—we get our kids hands-on and involved in every part of the operation.
This is Principle 7 of The UP™ Way: Work Changes People, and Principle 8: Life Skills Build Independence.
Giving young people real responsibility behind the soundboard and camera isn't just about technical AV training. It teaches focus, teamwork, problem-solving under pressure, and the deep pride that comes from knowing an entire room is counting on you. When youth are trusted with real-world tasks, they gain confidence that lasts a lifetime.
With 306 active youth and 90 new enrollments since August, every single Huddle is another opportunity to equip Kokomo's next generation of leaders, technicians, and creators.
HELP US EQUIP THE NEXT GENERATION
Kokomo Urban Outreach empowers youth (ages 3–18) through mentorship, life-skills training, work initiatives, and nutritious meals—giving kids the tools to become self-reliant, confident, and responsible adults.
No child is ever charged, and no child is ever turned away.
Your gift to our General Fund backs our daily operations, providing the facility space, equipment, and mentorship that make hands-on youth leadership possible every week.
