🌧️ WET WEEKEND AHEAD FOR HARDIN COUNTY 🌧️

Rain is ongoing across portions of Central and East Central Texas this morning, mainly west of Hardin County. While much of that activity is expected to remain west of our area for now, rain chances will begin increasing today and continue through the weekend.

The National Weather Service expects rain chances to increase significantly Saturday and Sunday, with periods of heavy rainfall possible. It will not rain continuously everywhere, but repeated rounds of showers and thunderstorms may occur with breaks in between. Current forecasts indicate 2–4 inches of rainfall through late Sunday, with locally higher amounts possible.

Some thunderstorms may produce high rainfall rates, and areas receiving repeated rainfall could become increasingly vulnerable to localized flooding. Residents should continue monitoring weather conditions throughout the weekend, especially when traveling.

πŸ‚ The good news comes early next week. A cool front is expected to move through the region Monday, bringing the first real taste of fall. Afternoon temperatures should settle into the lower 80s, with morning lows falling into the low-to-mid 60s.

⚠️ Stay weather aware throughout the weekend.
β€’ Monitor the latest forecasts and alerts.
β€’ Be prepared for changing roadway conditions.
β€’ Never drive through flooded roads β€” Turn Around, Don’t Drown.

β˜€οΈ HEAT ADVISORY – HARDIN COUNTY β˜€οΈ

The National Weather Service has issued a Heat Advisory for our area today, Monday, September 7, from 11:00 AM until 7:00 PM CDT.

🌑️ Heat index values could reach as high as 107°F.

Hot temperatures combined with high humidity can increase the risk of heat exhaustion and heat stroke, especially for those working outdoors, older adults, children, and anyone without adequate air conditioning.

⚠️ Please take precautions today:

πŸ’§ Drink plenty of water and stay hydrated.
❄️ Spend as much time as possible in air-conditioned locations.
β˜€οΈ Avoid prolonged exposure to direct sunlight.
πŸ‘· If working outdoors, take frequent breaks in shaded or air-conditioned areas.
πŸ‘₯ Check on relatives, neighbors, older adults, and others who may be vulnerable to the heat.
πŸš— Never leave children or pets unattended in a vehicle.
🐾 Make sure outdoor pets have plenty of fresh water and access to shade.

🚨 Know the signs of heat illness. If someone becomes overwhelmed by the heat, move them to a cool, shaded or air-conditioned location immediately. Heat stroke is a medical emergency β€” call 911.

Please plan outdoor activities accordingly and take the heat seriously. A few extra precautions can help keep you, your family, and our community safe.
