Krebs Fire Department Responds to Grass Fire Near South Main Street

KREBS, Okla. — The Krebs Fire Department responded to a reported grass fire Thursday at the intersection of SW Buchanan Street and S. Main Street in Krebs.

According to an incident report from Krebs Fire Chief Leonard Baughman, Krebs 594 Brush Truck was dispatched to the area after firefighters were notified of the fire.

Upon arrival, firefighters found a grass fire burning in close proximity to nearby structures. The department reported that the fire was not posing an immediate threat to the structures when crews arrived.

Unit 594 began fire suppression operations and extinguished the fire using a water/foam mixture, which the department said was used to help prevent remaining embers from rekindling.

No injuries to firefighters were reported, and the department reported no property damage or loss resulting from the incident.

After firefighters confirmed the fire was completely extinguished and the area was safe, Unit 594 returned to service and headed back to the Krebs Fire Station.

The Krebs Fire Department serves the City of Krebs and provides emergency response and fire protection services to the community. The City of Krebs states that its emergency services operate around the clock to respond to hazards and emergencies and minimize damage.

🔥🚒 Our firefighters need our support now more than ever.

With high temperatures and ongoing drought conditions, fires can burn longer, spread farther, and require firefighters to spend hours — sometimes even days — on the fireground.

These long-duration incidents take a toll. Staying hydrated, fueled, and comfortable is essential for the men and women working tirelessly to protect our communities. ❤️

If you’re looking for a way to support your local fire department, consider donating some of the items on our list — water and hydration drinks, non-perishable snacks, or other everyday essentials. You can also consider making a monetary donation so your department can purchase exactly what they need.

💧 Every bottle of water helps.
🥨 Every snack keeps firefighters fueled.
❤️ Every donation reminds them their community has their back.

We encourage anyone wanting to donate to contact their local fire department directly to find out what their exact needs are.

Let’s take care of those who spend long hours taking care of us. 🚒❤️
