We’re hiring a Community Service Officer!

This is the type of job that keeps you on your feet. About 80% of your time will be spent in the field, working with property owners, residents, businesses, and the City of Kuna to address zoning violations, abandoned vehicles, and other community concerns.

You’ll do a little bit of everything, from conducting VIN inspections and investigating ordinance violations to traffic control, crime scene support, evidence collection, and abandoned vehicle enforcement. You’ll also have opportunities to assist Patrol, work special events, and respond to calls for service involving thefts, vandalism, burglaries, fraud, and more.

You will also work closely with citizens, city officials, prosecutors, public works, and tow companies to find solutions and educate the community.

The position generally works Monday–Thursday, with 10-hour shifts and flexibility as needed.

If you’re looking for a hands-on career where every day is different and you can serve your community in a variety of ways, this could be the opportunity for you.

On September 8, 2026, at approximately 5:30 p.m., Ada County Sheriff's Office and Kuna Police deputies arrested 55-year-old Kuna resident Darrin Allen.

Allen was booked into the Ada County Jail on a warrant for {F} R**e. The charge stems from an investigation into an alleged inappropriate relationship with a minor who was 17 years old at the time.

Allen was terminated from Kuna High School after the alleged relationship was discovered earlier this year. The Kuna School District has cooperated fully with the investigation.

Detectives are asking anyone who may have additional information related to this investigation to contact non-emergency dispatch at 208-377-6790, email [email protected], or submit an anonymous tip through the Ada County Sheriff’s Office app, available in the Apple App Store or Google Play Store.

SRO James, along with Deputies Hunter and Yarnot, spent some time with students from a local elementary school!

Deputy Yarnot gave the group a drone demonstration, and the kids got an up-close look at one of our patrol vehicles and some of the equipment deputies use every day.

Thanks for hanging out with us!

Our team got to spend some time with some awesome local preschoolers today!

The kids checked out our patrol vehicles, visited with deputies, and asked plenty of great questions. Before wrapping up the visit, our team got to hand out a few toys to the group.

Getting invited to spend time with local students is always a highlight of our day. Thanks for having us!

Detective Casey was greeting students as they arrived today, only to be asked for a “tour” of his police vehicle. This was the highlight of the day for a few students.
