This morning, our department came together for our annual 9/11 Memorial Stair Climb, climbing 110 flights and 2,200 steps in honor of the lives lost on September 11, 2001.

Members of the Kyle Police Department joined us for the climb as we remembered the first responders and innocent lives lost that day, and the countless lives forever changed.

Twenty-five years later, we continue to climb in their memory. We will never forget.

Wildfire activity across Texas has kept crews moving, and since August 9, Kyle Fire Department personnel have been deployed across the state to assist wherever resources are needed.

Our first crew, Lt. Cortez, Eng. Gwinn, and Eng. Bisbey, completed their deployment and was replaced by Capt. Schultz, Eng. Novak, and Eng. Vidal, who are currently staged in Fort Stockton.
Capt. Kitchens, Lt. Treminio, and Eng. Lane are assigned to the Ross Fire, along with Assistant Chief Rolon, who is deployed there on a separate assignment.
Eng. Guerra is currently in Merkel serving as an Engine Boss, while FF Gebert is in Fort Stockton assigned as a firefighter with a separate crew. Our Administrative Assistant, Ms. Ali, is also deployed to College Station supporting logistics.

Even with personnel deployed, staffing here at home remains fully maintained. Our firefighters step in to backfill those positions, ensuring our response capabilities in Kyle are not impacted while our personnel assist communities across Texas.
It takes a department-wide effort to make deployments like these possible. We’re grateful for the personnel willing to serve wherever they’re needed and for those back home who make that service possible.
