We have some news: We’re moving.

We won't be far. We're now at NASA Exoplanets. Please join us there for all the latest on NASA’s work studying the worlds beyond our solar system✨

And, thank you🖤

Join experts live as we discuss the most complex telescope ever created by humans – the James Webb Space Telescope. Webb will be like a powerful time machine with infrared vision that will peer back over 13.5 billion years to see some of the first stars and galaxies forming out of the darkness of the early universe.

Tune in TODAY: 4:30-5 p.m. EDT | 1:30-2pm PDT

The exoplanets we've discovered so far are within the Milky Way galaxy, but beyond our own solar system.

Now, NASA's Hubble Space Telescope has spotted an interstellar comet☄️ (its speed and trajectory indicate it also comes from beyond our solar system).

👋 Hi, friend!

The center of our galaxy🌀 is cloudy with dust and gas.

A black hole🕳 4 million times more massive than the Sun☀️ is surrounded by millions of whipping stars✨
NASA's Spitzer Space Telescope got this view in infrared light; the infrared instrument on the James Webb Space Telescope will be even better👀

We've confirmed 4,073 planets beyond our own solar system – exoplanets – so far💫

Each week we add to the known worlds.

: Search for understanding wherever you can.

We're so glad each one of you is here with us on this journey of exploration.

Spend a minute with these images from and take care of yourselves. We need you❤️

One of the strangest things in the cosmos✨ might be ... us.

Among the thousands of exoplanets we've found in orbit around other stars🌟, there's nothing quite like our home🌎

So, is Earth the oddball?

10/08/2019

The Swiss team of Michel Mayor & Didier Queloz made a stunning discovery in 1995: a gas giant planet orbiting a star like our Sun☀️

Today, the astronomers shared a in physics 🙌

Since then, we've discovered more than 4K exoplanets!🤩 The world they discovered, 51 Pegasi b – 51 Peg b – is a "hot Jupiter" gas giant.
It has a 4-day "year," the time it takes to orbit its star. Because it's so close, it's HOT🔥 : 1,000-1,800°🌡 F (538-982° C).

This blistering world is 51 light-years from Earth🌍

10/04/2019

The nearest exoplanet, Proxima Centauri b, is 4 light-years💡⤳ away. Exoplanets are far, making them difficult to find and much harder to "see."

You know what's close, though? THE MOON🌙

So, for night tomorrow, why not ... just look up?

On , we'd like to remind you of the PSO J318.5-22. It's a rogue world, meaning it orbits 💫 no star. It's dancing💃🏿 alone in space, untethered.

We can see its glow from the leftover heat🌡 of formation.
