A little clay, a spinning wheel, and unlimited creative possibility.
Spence Elementary School art teacher Jamie Guenther is bringing a special new experience to the elementary art room, giving students the chance to turn clay into something uniquely their own while building patience, focus, coordination, and problem-solving skills.
It’s hands-on learning that sparks creativity, builds confidence and gives our young artists a whole new way to express themselves. And the fun will keep spinning at the new Hogan Elementary School, where the wheel will serve students from both Spence and Emerson!
So, how did Spence get its wheel? Thanks to a generous donor working with the La Crosse Public Education Foundation, La Crosse Central High School and La Crosse Logan High School each received four new pottery wheels, giving one of Central’s former wheels a new home at Spence.
And we’re just getting started. Stay tuned as we head into Central and Logan’s art rooms in the coming weeks to see what’s taking shape at the high school level.
