Join us November 12th from 9-10 am for our next Nutrition Education class! Attendees will enjoy a hands on Thanksgiving themed class led by Community Nutrition Educator Vicki.
Pre-registration will be required at least 3 days in advance. Register in-person at WAFER Food Pantry at 1603 George St. during hours of distribution, email [email protected], or call 608-782-6003. Please provide your name, phone number, and food allergies. If you are unable to attend, please call to cancel. One gift per household for income-eligible participants.

Supporting older adults, providing better access to healthy food.

Many older adults in our community face real challenges getting to the pantry. Limited transportation, physical limitations, and health concerns can make accessing nutritious food difficult.

This past year, WAFER staff have been intentional in expanding our outreach to make sure seniors aren’t left behind. Through new partnerships (such as Village of Bangor) and trusted community relationships, we increased direct marketing to older adults and brought food closer to home through our Mobile Pantry sites and senior package delivery. Funding provided by Wisconsin Medical Society Foundation and Mayo Clinic Health System Foundation Hometown Health Grant helped to propel the work. Though there are many more individuals to reach, there is still much to be proud of because every connection helps ensure older adults have the healthy foods they need to stay well and thriving.

After five years of dedicated service, our Mobile Pantry Manager, Tony, will be retiring at the end of the month.

We are deeply grateful for the care, consistency, and compassion he has brought to WAFER’s mobile outreach program and the thousands of lives he has impacted.

As Tony prepares for retirement, we are now accepting applications for the Mobile Pantry Manager position.

Volunteer help on Tuesday, Wednesday, and Friday mornings has declined, and we could really use extra hands. These morning shifts are essential for stocking shelves and making sure shoppers are welcomed with dignity and efficiency.

When volunteer numbers dip, it becomes harder to keep up with the pace.

If you’re able to join us on Tuesday, Wednesday, or Friday morning, even for a couple of hours, it makes a meaningful difference. Help is most needed 8:30-12:30. (Plus, you will get to meet the most awesome people who are already volunteering!)

A shopper returned to WAFER this week after eight years away — her first time in our new building. As a single mom going through “a very hard time,” she shared that things were so tight they “didn’t even have hotdogs in the house.”

She left with a cart full of nutritious food and was so appreciative she was nearly in tears.

Her story is one of many that show how vital WAFER is for individuals and families. And it’s your generosity that makes this possible. Thank you for supporting a pantry where neighbors can find both food and dignity.

Our WAFER Providing Food, Fueling Hope campaign has come to an end, and we want to extend a heartfelt thank-you to everyone who has been part of this journey! Over the past 40 days, we shared 40 stories highlighting the people, experiences, and community connections that make WAFER special. Our goal was to inspire 400 donations of $40 to help us continue providing food and support to our neighbors. Thanks to the generosity of our 27 donors, we raised $1,650! We are incredibly grateful to everyone who donated, shared our stories, and helped spread the word.
Although our 40-day campaign has ended, the need for food and support continues year-round. You can donate to WAFER at any time by contributing food items or making a monetary donation. Every contribution makes a difference and helps ensure our neighbors have access to the food they need.
