Parenting comes with a lot of questions. Bring yours.

Join Grande Ronde Hospital & Clinics for a special Doc Talk for Parents featuring local physicians and community organizations that support children, teens, and families throughout Union County.

Our panel will include pediatricians Dr. Josiah Ward and Dr. Aaron Grigg, along with OB/GYN Dr. Soren Madsen, and others for an approachable conversation about issues parents navigate at different stages of childhood.

Topics will include:

• Behavior vs. Brain Development — Why tantrums, boundary-testing, and other challenging behaviors can be a normal part of neurological development
• Teens & Social Media — Navigating a rapidly changing digital world
• Questions from Parents — because sometimes the most helpful topic is the one you bring with you

Parents will also have an opportunity to connect with local organizations and resources supporting families in our community, including GRH’s CHARM program.

Wednesday, October 21
5:30–7 p.m.
Huber Auditorium, Badgley Hall, Eastern Oregon University

Light refreshments will be served.

Come with questions. Leave with information, resources, and a little more confidence for whatever stage of parenting you're navigating.

When wildfire smoke settles into the valley, it can affect more than your lungs. Poor air quality may also irritate your nose, sinuses, throat, and voice, even if you do not have an existing health condition.
Learn how to reduce your exposure, which symptoms to watch for, and when your primary care provider or an ear, nose, and throat specialist may be able to help. Read our article here: https://www.grh.org/news/releases/when-wildfire-smoke-irritates-more-than-your-lungs/

With wildfire smoke becoming part of our summers, many families are looking for simple and affordable ways to keep the air inside their homes a little cleaner. ❤️

One resource worth checking out is from the EPA on DIY air cleaners. Using a box fan and the right type of filter, families may be able to create a lower-cost option to help reduce smoke particles indoors.

The EPA explains how these work, what research has found, and important safety tips to know before using one.

Take a look here:

EPA and other health, environmental, and nonprofit organizations have provided instructions for creating do-it-yourself (DIY) air cleaners.

🌫️ Keep the Smoke Outside. Protect the Air Inside Your Home. 🏡

When wildfire smoke impacts our area, cleaner indoor air can help protect your health. Keep windows and doors closed, use the recirculate setting on your HVAC or window A/C if available, and use a clean filter or HEPA air purifier when possible.

Before heading outside, check current air quality conditions at AirNow.gov and take steps to reduce your exposure when smoke levels are high.
