For us at the La Harpe Fire Protection District, September 11th is more than a date in history—it is a reminder of the courage, sacrifice, and brotherhood that define the fire service. As we mark the 25th anniversary of the terrorist attacks on 9/11, we pause to remember all those whose lives were forever changed.

Today, we remember the 343 firefighters who made the ultimate sacrifice on 9/11, along with the police officers, EMTs, paramedics, and countless other first responders who ran toward danger while others were running away.
Their sacrifice reminds us why we train, why we answer the call, and why we stand ready to serve and protect our community—no matter the circumstances.

“Remember the hours after September 11th... when our firefighters ran up stairs and risked their lives so that others might live... It was the worst day we have ever seen, but it brought out the best in all of us.” — Geraldine Brooks

From all of us at the La Harpe Fire Protection District, we honor their memory, their families, and the legacy they left behind.

We remember. We honor. We will never forget. 🇺🇸🚒

As we celebrate America's 250th, we're reminded that one of our nation's greatest strengths has always been neighbors helping neighbors.

Thank you to everyone who came out and supported our Pancake Breakfast yesterday! Your generosity and community spirit made the event a tremendous success.

Because of your support, the funds raised will be used to purchase new equipment that will help us better serve our community for years to come. Your investment in our organization is an investment in the safety and well-being of everyone we serve.

We're proud to be part of a community that continues to come together in support of one another. Thank you for helping us celebrate 250 years of American pride, service, and community.

Please join us in thanking all of those who serve in this capacity, especially those who serve as our local dispatchers at Hancock County 911. They are often the unsung heroes when emergencies happen, and we are lucky to have some of the best!
