Come rally for affordable housing and respect with your neighbors and fellow residents of Graduate and Family Housing! This event is a community gathering to show HDH how many of us are together in this fight for affordable housing.

The UCSD community has rallied around the fight to freeze campus rents ever since UCSD/HDH announced their absurd and exploitative rent hikes last month. The university has made a couple of minor concessions—so we know they hear us!—But these minor delays are not nearly enough. We are fighting for ourselves, for future students and residents, and for an equitable public university that supports students and workers.

We will rally at noon by the Mesa Nueva pool for a few speeches and a teach-in on the crisis that UCSD has created—and now expects to solve on the backs of students and workers. Stick around for a community and family-oriented chalk party with the help of our Resident Coalition. All are welcome, including kids and dogs :)

URGENT: Our Housing Justice Campaign continues to grow!! GET ONBOARD WITH THE APRIL 1st RENT STRIKE!

Last week, residents of UCSD housing escalated their campaign opposing the massive rent hike proposed by the university by delivering a petition signed by over 2000 ASEs and allies. Watch our video here! More than 500 residents have pledged to withhold rent if their demands are not met. Despite recent administration offers of summer pay and campus housing-increase exemptions, we continue to demand a rent freeze and comprehensive housing justice, nothing less!

We can win this! On 3/12, the same day our demands were sent, UCLA housing tenants on strike since May won major concessions from the university in their ongoing campaign demanding the cancellation of rent during the pandemic. UCSD can win this rent freeze too if we’re working together!

Both developments follow in the footsteps of last Wednesday’s launch of a West Coast-wide campaign to win housing justice for all. Join your coworkers to fight for just living conditions. (To learn more about your eviction protections during COVID, go here.)
