Grossmont school district to pay more than $700K to settle official’s claims she was demoted for being gay
Rose Tagnesi blamed her demotion from the district’s top special-education job on what she called a campaign of anti-LGBTQ+ discrimination by a majority of the school board.

More money wasted on settlements for unscrupulous behavior by the GUHSD board. I wonder who they'll RIF next year because there is a "budget shortfall"
"Grossmont Union High School District will pay a former administrator more than $700,000 — and her lawyers nearly $500,000 — to settle her lawsuit alleging she was demoted and effectively fired because she is a le***an.
Rose Tagnesi had sued last year, saying she was forced out of the district’s top special-education job after more than a decade by an anti-LGBTQ+ majority of the school board.
In a statement provided by her lawyer, she said the settlement signals to the larger LGBTQ+ community that their rights matter. “In the future, I’m hopeful the district will take decisive action toward creating the culture of inclusivity its students and teachers deserve,” she wrote.
Tagnesi was demoted to a classroom teaching job early last year, after what she described as a secret investigation into a 2020 incident at Santana High School. She had served as the district’s special-ed director since 2010."

We need to replace the 3 trustees that are up for election in 2026 with officials who have our students and staffs beat interest in mind. Not their own narrow minded agenda.

Great recap of the resolutions that Chris Fite proposed at the board meeting last week (that we're not even seconded for discussion) and what they would have meant for students and staff at our schools.

Second shocker, they also wouldn't even discuss Chris Fite's other Resolution in Support of Nonviolent Civil Discourse in Schools.
They. Do. Not. Care.

Shocker, they wouldn't even discuss Chris Fite's resolution to FOLLOW CALIFORNIA LAW and keep ICE off our campuses.
They need to go.
They don't care about the safety of our students.
They're not listening to their constituents.
Vote them out.

Peep the new "No-Activity Zone" at the GUHSD Board Meeting 👀
Still baffled at the point of this....we WANT people to come to the board meetings.
Should we roll out a red carpet next time?
No, but seriously...I think we should.

This is what the had to say about this week's meeting. And if we've learned anything this year, it's that we should be listening to our teachers!
"WE NEED YOU TO SUPPORT OUR COMMUNITY AT THE THURSDAY, NOVEMBER 13TH BOARD MEETING!!!
GUHSD Trustee Chris Fite will be proposing a resolution for the district to reaffirm its commitment to providing safe, stable, nurturing, and welcoming environments for all students and staff while strictly prohibiting harassment, discrimination, and bias-based harm.
The resolution celebrates the diverse student and family population of GUHSD, which includes individuals with various immigration statuses, and encourages students to engage safely and productively with controversial topics.
Acknowledging that changes at the federal level may cause fear, the resolution enables GUHSD to pledge support for the community by providing resources, training on immigrant rights, and promoting health and well-being.
The resolution will commit the district to a high-quality, well-rounded education by ensuring all students are reflected in the curriculum, incorporating historically marginalized and underrepresented groups and identities.
And, in compliance with California law AB 49, the resolution will clearly establish that GUHSD will not assist US Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) without a warrant, establish protocols for visitor registration, and ensure staff do not solicit information about citizenship or immigration status."
