🏀 MORE THAN BASKETBALL — BUILDING CONNECTIONS! 🏀

Our Youth Engagement Officers recently took students from our Project YOU after-school program to a Washington Wizards game, and what a night it was!

After reaching out to the Wizards, our officers received a wonderful response. The students were treated to game tickets, Wizards swag, and food, making for an experience they won’t soon forget! 🏀🙌

Our officers love mentoring youth, building relationships, and creating opportunities that make a lasting impression. A huge thank-you to the Washington Wizards for helping make this experience possible!

Thomas Stone High School Student Arrested Following Seizure of Over 30 THC Va**ng Devices / V**e Containing THC also Recovered from 11-Year-Old at Middle School:

On October 13, administrators at Thomas Stone High School became aware of a 16-year-old student who reportedly was using a va**ng device on the school bus on October 9. An investigation was initiated and a search of the student’s bookbag revealed more than 30 THC containing va**ng devices in their original retail packaging. Further, a v**e device containing THC was found on the student. The school resource officer charged the student with possession with the intent to distribute drugs and possession of cannabis. In an unrelated incident, on October 13, school administrators at John Hanson Middle School were made aware of an 11-year-old student in possession of a v**e. The v**e was recovered and tested positive for THC.

Both students face consequences in accordance with the Charles County Public Schools code of student conduct. Parents and guardians are encouraged to speak with their children about the risks associated with unregulated va**ng and THC products, many of which can contain harmful substances or misleading labeling.
