DRIVE SOBER ENFORCEMENT: Starting today (August 19), the Wisconsin State Patrol and law enforcement agencies across Wisconsin will work extra patrols for the nationwide Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over campaign.

According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), drunk driving claims the life of one person nationwide every 39 minutes. If you plan on drinking, plan a sober designated driver, take public transportation, or use a rideshare service. Never drink and drive. https://wisconsindot.gov/Pages/about-wisdot/newsroom/news-rel/081926-dsogpo.aspx

What's the difference between e-bikes and off-highway motorcycles in Wisconsin?

🚴‍♂️ E‑Bike or Off‑Highway Motorcycle? Let’s Clear Up the Confusion. 🏍️
We’ve noticed more kids riding electric dirt bikes around town—and many parents understandably assume these are “e‑bikes.” But under Wisconsin law, most of these electric dirt bikes are actually classified as Off‑Highway Motorcycles (OHMs), not bicycles.
Here’s what Wisconsin Statute 340.01(15ph) says an electric bicycle must have:
➡️ Fully operational pedals (must be able to propel the bike by human power)
➡️ Motor of 750 watts or less
➡️ Must fit into one of these classes:
🔹 Class 1 E‑Bike
• Pedal‑assist only
• Motor stops helping at 20 mph
• No throttle
🔹 Class 2 E‑Bike
• Throttle‑controlled (can operate with or without pedaling)
• Motor cuts off at 20 mph
🔹 Class 3 E‑Bike
• Pedal‑assist only
• Motor stops assisting at 28 mph
• Helmet required for riders under 18
❗ If the bike does NOT have pedals, it is NOT an e‑bike under Wisconsin law.
Those models fall under OHM and DNR regulations, which come with different rules for age, operation, and where they can be ridden.
OHM cannot be ridden on roadways, sidewalks or parks within the Village. If you are not sure the classification reach out to your local police department or the Wisconsin DNR.
Let’s keep our kids safe and our community informed.

Remember the Inline Marathon is tomorrow and the main roads will be one way only. Vehicles will travel toward town on Big Bay, out of town on Middle Road. Rice will be closed and Black Shanty will be northbound from Middle Road to Big Bay Road for vehicles.

The inline skaters will leave Rice to Big Bay Road, out of town to Black Shanty, cross over to Middle Road and then Back toward town and Rice St. Depending on the half or full they will make several revolutions.

Please plan accordingly. There will be volunteers and law enforcement at all major intersections to help with traffic control.

ATV/UTV law changes take effect June 1; Review today
Posted Friday, May 29, 2026 11:38 am
News from WI DNR
The Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources (DNR) urges ATV and UTV riders to review recent law changes that take effect June 1.
Numerous law changes and updates pertaining to ATV and UTV operation are detailed in the 2026 ATV/UTV regulations.
Updates include:
Operators and passengers are all required to wear a seatbelt in a UTV.
Intentionally causing damage with an ATV or UTV can cost you more than a fine – up to three times the cost to repair the damage.

ATV or UTV operators may not tow objects bearing any person on a trail or route. Towing persons on ice is limited to 10 mph.
UTVs now have window tint restrictions.
For questions or clarification regarding these new rules, contact your local DNR conservation warden or DNR Customer Service at 888-936-7463 (888-WDNRINFO).
“As always ride safe by wearing your helmets and seatbelts, knowing the rules and riding sober,” said Lt. Jacob Holsclaw, DNR off-highway vehicle administrator.
