🎃👻 HAPPY HALLOWEEN, LA VERGNE! 👻🎃

The La Vergne Police Department wishes everyone a SAFE, FUN, and SPOOKTACULAR Halloween!

Whether you’re out trick-or-treating, handing out candy, or just enjoying the spooky festivities, we want everyone to have a frighteningly good time!

Before you head out tonight, here are a few safety reminders:

Be Seen! Wear bright or reflective clothing and carry a flashlight or glow stick so drivers can spot you.

Look Both Ways! Use sidewalks and crosswalks whenever possible. Remember, even ghosts need to watch for traffic!

Check That Candy! Parents, inspect your children’s treats before they start digging in. And no, taking the Reese’s doesn’t count as evidence collection!

Slow Down! Drivers, be extra cautious in neighborhoods and watch for excited little ghosts and goblins crossing the streets.

Stick Together! Young trick-or-treaters should always be accompanied by a responsible adult, and everyone should stay aware of their surroundings.

Don’t Forget Your Pets! Keep your furry friends secure and away from Halloween candy, especially chocolate!

Our officers will be out keeping an eye on things, but we need your help making Halloween a safe night for everyone!

Stay safe, have fun, and don’t let the scares turn into emergencies!

Happy Halloween from all of us at the La Vergne Police Department! 🧡🖤

Aggravated Arson Investigation Leads to Arrest

On October 26, 2026, La Vergne Police officers and La Vergne Fire Department personnel responded to a reported structure fire at a residential facility on Sarna Drive.

Detectives Cline and Rhea responded to conduct a follow-up investigation alongside Fire Marshal C. Brinkley. Through interviews, surveillance footage, photographs, and physical evidence collected at the scene, investigators determined that the fire was intentionally set.

The investigation revealed that the juvenile suspect intentionally caused a fire inside the residence following grievances involving the facility’s staff. Fortunately, the other residents had exited the home before the fire began.

The juvenile suspect was charged with aggravated arson.

The La Vergne Police Department appreciates the coordinated response and investigative work of our officers, the La Vergne Fire Department, and Fire Marshal Brinkley in bringing this incident to a resolution.

The La Vergne Police Department is proud to congratulate the graduates of our latest Citizen Police Academy!

From September 8 through October 20, community members joined us for a seven-week program designed to strengthen understanding, communication, and cooperation between law enforcement and the residents we serve.

Throughout the academy, participants learned about a variety of topics, including uniformed patrol, special operations, criminal investigations, youth and criminal law, and the many responsibilities that come with serving our community. Through presentations, demonstrations, and discussions with members of our department, participants gained a closer look at police operations and the challenges officers face every day. Participants also had the opportunity to experience patrol firsthand through an optional ride-along.

The Citizen Police Academy reflects our belief that strong relationships between law enforcement and the community are essential to maintaining an exceptional quality of life in La Vergne. By creating opportunities for open communication and education, we can continue building trust and working together toward a safer community.

Thank you to everyone who participated in this class and took the time to learn more about your police department. Congratulations to all of our graduates, and thank you for being a part of the La Vergne community!

BE SPOOKY - BE SEEN - BE SAFE

Halloween is almost here, La Vergne! The costumes are ready, the candy is stocked, and our officers have a few important safety reminders before the ghosts, goblins, and superheroes take over our neighborhoods!

Whether you're a ninja, Batman, or a creature of the night, being invisible to drivers isn't a superpower!

As you head out trick-or-treating, remember to stay visible, use crosswalks, stick together, and always pay attention to your surroundings.

Drivers, we haven't forgotten about you! Slow down, put the phones away, and keep an extra eye out for little trick-or-treaters.

And parents, remember to inspect that Halloween candy. If a Reese's mysteriously disappears during your inspection... well, we'll let you explain that one.

We've put together a little Halloween safety video with some helpful reminders and a few laughs along the way. Give it a watch, share it with your friends and family, and help us keep La Vergne safe this Halloween!

From all of us at the La Vergne Police Department, have a fun, safe, and Happy Halloween!

Remember: The only scares we want this Halloween are the ones that come with the costumes!

La Vergne Police Department Investigation Leads to Arrest Following Threats of Mass Violence

LA VERGNE, Tenn. – The La Vergne Police Department recently initiated an investigation after being notified of an Order of Protection (OOP) issued through Williamson County involving a La Vergne resident. Initial attempts to locate the respondent and serve the Order of Protection were unsuccessful.

During this time, the respondent continued making threatening statements online directed toward family members and others in the State of Tennessee. La Vergne Police Department detectives continued monitoring publicly available, open-source information and identified an escalation in both the nature and specificity of the threats.

Detectives determined that the respondent had progressed from generalized threatening statements to specific threats involving individuals and public locations in Tennessee. Those threats included references to Governor Bill Lee, Pastor Corey Trimble, and places of worship.

Based upon the escalating nature and specificity of the threats, the La Vergne Police Department took immediate action to locate the individual and prevent potential acts of violence.

The suspect was located and taken into custody following a brief struggle. During the incident, one La Vergne police officer and two LPD detectives sustained minor injuries. All three declined medical treatment.

Following the arrest, the suspect was transported for mental health observation and evaluation. Investigators subsequently obtained a felony charge of Threat of Mass Violence, in violation of Tennessee Code Annotated § 39-13-813, and a misdemeanor charge of Resisting Arrest, in violation of Tennessee Code Annotated § 39-16-602.

The La Vergne Police Department takes threats to public safety seriously. When information indicates that a threat may be escalating toward potential violence, we will act swiftly and decisively to protect our community.

This investigation also demonstrates the importance of cooperation and information sharing among law enforcement agencies. We are committed to advancing public safety through strong partnerships with our local, county, state, and federal partners.

The La Vergne Police Department specifically thanks the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI), Bureau of Alcohol, To***co, Fi****ms and Explosives (ATF), Tennessee Bureau of Investigation (TBI), Tennessee Department of Safety and Homeland Security, Williamson County Sheriff’s Office, Rutherford County Sheriff’s Office, and Murfreesboro Police Department for their assistance, cooperation, and willingness to rapidly share information in support of this investigation and the safety of the public.

We also encourage members of the public to report threatening statements or concerning behavior to law enforcement. Information that may initially appear insignificant can become critically important when combined with information available to investigators.

If you see something or hear something that may indicate a threat to others, say something.

The La Vergne Police Department remains committed to protecting our community through vigilance, professional police work, decisive action, and strong partnerships.

SCAM ALERT: DON'T LET GIFT CARD SCAMS FOOL YOU

You cannot trust every call, text, or message you receive. Scammers may pretend to be law enforcement officers, court officials, government employees, or even someone you know to convince you to send them money.

Recently, agencies across Middle Tennessee have warned residents about scams involving callers who impersonate law enforcement and threaten arrest or other consequences unless money is paid. These scammers may even manipulate caller ID to make a call appear legitimate.

Remember: Law enforcement will not demand payment by gift card to avoid arrest or resolve a warrant. Requests to purchase gift cards and provide the numbers or PINs on the back are a major red flag.

Before sending money or sharing personal information, stop and verify who you are communicating with. If someone claims to represent a police department or government agency, hang up and contact that agency directly using a phone number from its official website. Do not rely on the number displayed on your caller ID or provided by the caller.

If you have already sent gift card information or money to a suspected scammer, contact the gift card company immediately, retain your receipts and communications, and report the incident to law enforcement.

If you believe you have been targeted by a scam or have fallen victim, contact the La Vergne Police Department at (615) 793-7744.

Taking a moment to verify a request can help protect you, your finances, and those around you. Please share this reminder with family members and friends to help keep our community informed and safe.
