Lieutenant Rich Carlson was invited to join the Gilford Rotary Club this morning for their monthly meeting.

During the visit, Lt. Carlson provided members with a tour of the Laconia Police Department’s Mobile Incident Command vehicle and discussed its capabilities and role in supporting public safety operations.

The visit was also an opportunity to learn more about the Gilford Rotary Club and the many community and international initiatives supported by Rotary, a global network of more than 1.2 million members dedicated to service and making a lasting difference.

Thank you to the Gilford Rotary Club for the invitation and the opportunity to share more about our department!

Today, the City of Laconia hosted its 3rd Annual Leadership Training Seminar, bringing together city leaders for a valuable day of learning and professional development.

A special thank you to City Manager Kirk Beattie, who developed and introduced this program three years ago to provide continued leadership training and development opportunities for Laconia's city leaders.

Another great learning experience and a well-organized event!

While most of Laconia sleeps, our officers are hard at work keeping our community safe.

Recently, Chief Matt Canfield joined our patrol officers on the midnight shift, working alongside the men and women who serve and protect Laconia around the clock.

“People are able to sleep safely and peacefully because of the dedicated work our officers do every night,” said Chief Canfield. “I had the opportunity to see firsthand the incredible work being done while most of our community was asleep. Much of what these officers do goes unseen, but their commitment never goes unnoticed. I’m incredibly proud of my entire crew.”

A special thank you to our overnight patrol officers and all members of the Laconia Police Department who work 24 hours a day, 365 days a year to keep our city safe.

This week, October 4–10, is National Community Policing Week.

For the Laconia Police Department, community policing is more than a program. It's the relationships built every day with the people, schools, businesses and organizations that make up our city.

Whether we're attending a community event, visiting a classroom, helping someone through a difficult day or simply taking the time to have a conversation, those connections matter.

We are proud to serve Laconia and grateful for the trust, support and partnerships that help us keep our community safe.

A little teamwork to make room for the next big idea!

On Wednesday, the Laconia Police Department teamed up with Miles Marine to assist the Laconia Huot Career and Technical Center with transporting its latest student-built mini home.

With the mini home safely on the move, students now have room to get started on their next project. We’re always glad to lend a hand and support the hands-on learning happening right here in our community.

This past week, Captain Allan Graton, Lieutenant Richard Carlson, and Officer Alicia Larsen, all members of the Belknap Regional Accident Investigation Team (BRAIT), attended the annual Pennsylvania State Police Crash Reconstruction Seminar at Kalahari Resorts & Conventions in Pocono Manor, Pennsylvania.

The seminar is open only to active law enforcement officers who have completed crash reconstruction training and is provided free of charge to law enforcement.

Throughout the week, attendees had access to industry leaders in crash technology and emerging crash investigation strategies, along with opportunities to participate in live crash tests and data validation.

This year’s conference grew to more than 400 attendees from across the country.

Thank you to our partners at the Pennsylvania State Police for providing this unique opportunity for networking, education, and continued professional development.

Today was a very special day for the Laconia Police Department. 🧡

This morning, we had the privilege of es**rting 7-year-old Maryah Lamontagne home from Boston Children’s Hospital, where she has spent the past two months undergoing cancer treatment.

On the way home, we made a very important stop at Woodland Heights Elementary School, where Maryah was greeted by an incredible welcome from her friends, classmates, teachers, school staff, and members of our community.

We were also happy to surprise Maryah and her brother with a few special gifts. Our partners with the Boston Police Department even sent Maryah home with an official FIFA soccer ball. The Laconia Police Relief Association was also proud to provide Maryah’s parents with a generous donation of gas and food gift cards to help support the family.

A special thank you to Woodland Heights Elementary School for helping make today’s homecoming so memorable, and to our law enforcement partners with the Massachusetts State Police, Boston Police Department and New Hampshire State Police for helping us es**rt Maryah safely on the first leg of her journey home.

Welcome home, Maryah. Laconia loves you!
