🚨 C&B FIRE DEPARTMENT AWARDED $408,931.66 FEMA GRANT! 🚨

C&B Fire Department is proud to announce that we have been awarded $408,931.66 through the FEMA Assistance to Firefighters Grant (AFG) Program!

This grant will allow C&B Fire Department to replace our entire aging fleet of Self-Contained Breathing Apparatus (SCBA) with new, updated equipment for our firefighters.

SCBA’s is one of the most critical pieces of equipment our firefighters rely on when entering hazardous environments. Replacing our aging units will provide our members with improved respiratory protection, updated technology, and greater safety while protecting the citizens we serve.

This is a tremendous investment in the safety of our firefighters and our community, and we are extremely proud of the work that went into making this grant possible.

πŸ‘ Great job by everyone involved in making this happen!

We would also like to thank FEMA and the Assistance to Firefighters Grant Program for this incredible opportunity and continued support of the fire service.

🚨 C&B FIRE DEPARTMENT ANNOUNCEMENT β€” ISO CLASS 2! 🚨

We are extremely proud to announce that beginning January 2027, C&B Fire Department will improve its ISO Public Protection Classification from a Class 3 to a Class 2! πŸ”₯πŸš’

This is a tremendous accomplishment for our department, our firefighters, and most importantly, the citizens and communities we serve.

πŸ”₯ What is an ISO rating?

ISO’s Public Protection Classification (PPC) evaluates the effectiveness of a community’s fire protection capabilities. The classification ranges from Class 1, representing superior property fire protection, to Class 10, which does not meet ISO’s minimum criteria.

The evaluation looks at several important areas, including:

πŸš’ Fire department capabilities β€” equipment, staffing, training and operations
πŸ’§ Water supply β€” hydrants, available water and distribution systems
πŸ“ž Emergency communications β€” dispatch and alarm systems
🏠 Community risk reduction β€” efforts to prevent and reduce fire losses

A Class 2 rating recognizes the strength of these components and the department’s ability to provide effective fire protection to the community. ISO/PPC classifications are also used by many insurance companies when determining property insurance rates, although the actual effect on an individual policy depends on the insurer and other factors.

πŸ’ͺ THIS DIDN’T HAPPEN OVERNIGHT

This accomplishment represents years of hard work, investment, training, planning and dedication by the men and women of C&B Fire Department, along with the continued support of our leadership, fire board commissioners, mutual-aid partners and, most importantly, the communities we serve.

From our firefighters answering the call, to the people working behind the scenes to improve our department, this Class 2 rating belongs to all of us.

We are proud of where C&B Fire Department is today β€” and even more excited about where we are going.

C&B Fire Department β€” Serving Our Community With Pride, Dedication & Excellence. πŸš’πŸ”₯

Congratulations to the entire C&B family on achieving ISO Class 2!

Today, C&B Fire Department and South Berkeley Fire District had the privilege and honor of setting up our ladder trucks to pay tribute to fallen Master Deputy Sheriff Michael Hendricks.

As a firefighter, there are few things more meaningful than standing alongside our brothers and sisters in law enforcement during a time of loss. Raising the American flag between our ladder trucks was a small gesture of respect for a man who dedicated his life to serving and protecting his community.

Our thoughts, prayers, and deepest condolences are with Master Deputy Hendricks’ family, friends, fellow deputies, and everyone who had the honor of serving alongside him.

Rest easy, Master Deputy Hendricks. Your service and sacrifice will never be forgotten. πŸ‡ΊπŸ‡Έ
