🚧 Our drainage crews are working on Sharpsburg Drive, near Verot School Road and Vincent Road, repairing a sinkhole that formed along a nearby coulee.

Sinkholes often form when a drainage pipe underground deteriorates and soil washes away, causing the ground to cave in. Crews are currently replacing the damaged pipe and restoring the surface.

It is important to report sinkholes are soon as they are noticed as it can be a safety hazard. See a dip, crack or sinkhole in the road? Report it by calling 311 so our crews can investigate.

🚧 New Frem Boustany Extension Bridge Under Construction!

LCG is building a new $2.9 million concrete bridge connecting The Vineyard and Sonoma Gardens subdivisions near Vincent Road.

Project Highlights:
🚗 Improved neighborhood connectivity and additional access points
🚶 Vehicle lanes and sidewalks
🌧️Drainage channel improvements to help reduce erosion and stabilize the bridge

Expected completion is for November 2027, weather permitting.

This investment is part of LCG’s ongoing commitment to reducing congestion, strengthening infrastructure, and building for Lafayette’s continued growth.

🏠 Planning for Lafayette’s housing future starts with understanding what our community needs.

Following a national search that attracted more than 15 firm teams, the Lafayette Housing Partnership has selected Reinvestment Fund + WRT to lead a citywide Housing Needs Assessment and Feasibility Study.

Over the next six months, the team will examine what housing Lafayette needs, where it’s needed and how we can preserve and strengthen existing housing while creating new opportunities as our community grows. Residents will be an important part of the process, with a citywide survey and community engagement opportunities coming soon.

Lafayette’s future is shaped by the people who show up and get involved.

This morning, members of The705 sat down with Monique Blanco Boulet Lafayette Parish Mayor-President and Michael Soileau of LFT Fiber for Coffee Chat with the Mayor, an opportunity to ask questions, discuss the administration’s priorities and explore how Lafayette’s continued growth is impacting our community.

The conversation also focused on how young professionals can play a role in shaping Lafayette’s future by staying informed, getting involved and encouraging others to take part in the decisions that affect our community.

A stronger Lafayette starts with an engaged community, and every voice has a role to play.
