A HUGE THANK YOU to everyone who came out and joined us! Whether you dressed up, enjoyed some w**e, grabbed a bite to eat, danced, or simply spent the evening with friends and family, YOU helped make this night so special!

The Town of Jean Lafitte has teamed up with Keep Louisiana Beautiful to remind everyone that littering and illegal dumping are against the law. Signs have been posted, and now we’re asking for your help to keep Jean Lafitte and our surrounding communities beautiful!

If you see littering or illegal dumping, please report it by calling 855-LA-LITTER.

At this week’s Town Council meeting, our new Police Chief, Joey Kreger Jr., was sworn in by Jefferson Parish Council Member Tim Kerner Jr.

Town residents, State Representative Tim Kerner Sr., Captain Kevin Decker, Constable Brennan Rojas, and Constable Jonathan Liberto were also in attendance to show their support and welcome our new chief.

Mayor Yvette Crain and the Town Council extend congratulations and a warm welcome to Chief Kreger! We look forward to his leadership and service to our community.

Please join us in welcoming Jean Lafitte’s new Chief of Police, Joseph “Joey” Kreger Jr.!

Chief Kreger brings more than 30 years of service with the Jefferson Parish Sheriff’s Office. His career has spanned corrections, patrol, and leadership roles, including lieutenant and Commander of the Public Assignment Office. In that role, he oversaw four divisions, managed personnel and budgets, and coordinated daily security details involving approximately 250 deputies.

His hands-on law enforcement experience, leadership, and longstanding relationships with JPSO will help him lead our department and strengthen the partnership that serves our community.

To guide this important selection, the Town assembled a committee that included JPSO Chief Deputy John Fitzpatrick; Kerry Najolia, former JPSO training director and SWAT commander; Constable Brennan Rojas, whose decades of law enforcement experience and deep roots in our bayou community bring valuable insight into our residents’ needs; and Harry Cahill, a highly respected municipal attorney with decades of experience serving as legal counsel to Jean Lafitte and Grand Isle.

After reviewing and interviewing candidates, the committee made its recommendation. Mayor Yvette Crain evaluated that recommendation and selected Kreger, whose appointment was reviewed and approved by the Town Council.

Keeping our families safe is one of the Town’s greatest responsibilities. We are confident in Chief Kreger’s ability to meet that responsibility and look forward to supporting him and our officers as they serve the people of Jean Lafitte.
