A familiar face is helping students safely start and end their school day. 💚

Mr. Juan Melendez has joined Lake Bluff School District 65 as our new crossing guard. Many families may already recognize Mr. Juan from his summer work with the Village of Lake Bluff.

This school year, District 65 invested in and is fully funding a crossing guard through its partnership with Andy Frain Services, providing additional support for students traveling to and from school each day.

We’re grateful to have Mr. Juan’s friendly welcome and watchful eye at the crossing, and we’re proud to make this investment in the safety of our students and families.

Andy Frain Services is currently accepting applications for crossing guard positions. Those interested may call (815) 909-8471 or contact District 65, and we will be happy to pass along their information.

Shields Township wishes all of our students, teachers, and families a wonderful and safe first day of school! 🚸🚲

As a reminder, please talk to your children about bike and pedestrian safety. When crossing Route 176, we encourage children to use the school crossing by Target, as it is the safest way to cross.

Have a great school year and a wonderful first day! 💙🚌📚

🌳🌲🪾Thank you to everyone for your patience as our Township crews continue working hard to clean up storm debris.

If you have branches to be picked up, please place them neatly at the curb. We kindly ask that you separate larger branches and bundle any smaller sticks or limbs together whenever possible. Doing so helps our crews work more efficiently and allows us to clean up the community more quickly.

We truly appreciate your cooperation and thank our hardworking crews for all they’re doing to keep our Township safe and looking its best.
