Pictured here: An FDOT traffic recorder being observed in 1957.

Devices like this were part of Florida’s early traffic monitoring efforts, using the data for traffic engineering, safety, and management purposes.

Fast forward to today, FDOT’s Regional Traffic Management Centers act as the hub for disseminating information to the travelling public! By monitoring traffic on Florida’s roadways in real-time, our teams ensure traffic keeps flowing and quick response times for incidents and motorists in need of roadside assistance.
