Herk Bouris Elementary School opened August 14, 2012 at the west edge of the Menifee Unified School District. Located at the intersection of Canyon Hills Drive and Kalanchoe Road, Herk Bouris serves about 800 students in grades K-5. Menifee Union School Board policy required that the name of the school represent a pioneer in the area. Herk Bouris was a wheat farmer in Menifee for 55 years, harvesting wheat and sugar beets on many of the fields where new housing developments and parks now stand. Although Herk Bouris Elementary is in the Menifee Union School District, its physical location lies within the city of Lake Elsinore.
