DO YOURSELF AND YOUR CO-WORKERS A FAVOR AND STAY HOME WHEN SICK

Colder weather is here, and with it has arrived the cold/flu/viral season that coincides with drier air and people spending more time together inside. What's the number one thing we can do to slow the spread of illness? Stay home when sick.

It's one of the most important lessons we learned during the COVID-19 pandemic, along with keeping our hands clean. If you have a fever, feel blah, or have any other potential symptoms of illness, err on the side of caution whenever possible.

As an aside, Why is drier air a factor in cold/flu season? Viruses spread more easily in drier air, as they stay infectious longer outside the human body when it is less humid.

You can find more guidance here: www.cdc.gov/flu/business/stay-home-when-sick.htm

Our heating systems have started running for the season, and the risk of carbon monoxide (CO) poisoning greatly increases this time of year. Any source of combustion, such as a furnace, gas stove or generator, will give off CO when in operation. If not vented correctly, it can accumulate in your home.

Carbon monoxide is colorless and odorless, but it can kill you. The only way to know whether you are at risk is by use of a CO detector. Make sure you have one, and that it is in working order.
