LPCA Meet the Candidates 2026

A lot of people have questions about how our local meetings work, so here is a quick breakdown to clear up the confusion between the LPCA and the LPID.
Years ago, the district used to hold quarterly meetings. However, because attendance was minimal, the schedule was changed to hold district meetings on an as-needed basis instead.
To clarify how things run now:
The LPCA and the LPID are not the same thing. The LPCA meets monthly from March through November. While the LPCA and LPID are separate entities, the actual attendees at both meetings are usually the exact same people.
The main difference is how you find out about them. Because LPID meetings happen on an as-needed basis, they are formally announced to all property owners in the district via a postcard mailed directly to your home. LPCA meetings simply follow the regular monthly schedule.
It is also important to know that decisions made at LPCA meetings are only applicable to the LPCA itself. Any decisions made or votes taken at LPCA meetings that relate to LPID issues are simply summarized and forwarded to the district clerk, supervisor, or town board for their information.
There has been some confusion around this lately, but it shouldn't result in any animosity. At the end of the day, we are all neighbors and people who just want what is best for our neighborhood.
We hope this helps clarify how to stay involved!

When you step up to lead an organization like the Lake Peekskill Civic Association, you do it out of love for the neighborhood. But sometimes, trying to do things the right way—impartially, legally, and safely—gets lost in the noise of social media.
Right now, we are working hard to host the Meet the Candidates Forum on October 19th. Our goal has always been simple: give our community a fair, structured, and informative night to hear directly from the candidates.
To ensure this event remains strictly non-partisan and protects our 501(c)(4) non-profit status, we reached out to the League of Women Voters for guidance. Following standard protocol for a balanced forum, questions are being pre-submitted via Google Forms. A dedicated 3-person committee from the LPCA will sort through them simply to consolidate duplicates and ensure a broad range of community topics are covered. From there, the independent League of Women Voters moderator will be the one asking the questions.
We chose this route specifically to prevent the event from turning into a shouting match or letting any single group "stack the deck" at a live microphone. It ensures that everyone in the neighborhood has an equal, fair shot at having their topics raised.
It’s disheartening to see assumptions made about our motives when we are simply trying to protect the integrity of the forum. We hope we can tune out the hostility and come together as neighbors on October 19th. We all want a strong community—let’s model that in how we treat each other. See you there.
