East Carroll Parish 4-H youth participated in the RECF North LA/Region 8 Fall Aerial Drone Challenge at the Ruston Sports Complex in Ruston, Louisiana! As part of their training and preparation for the event, all youth earned their FAA TRUST Completion Certificates! This certification is required for recreational drone pilots in the United States and promotes safe flying practices.
We are proud of our youth for developing their STEM skills, building confidence, and exploring exciting opportunities in drone technology!

The East Carroll Parish 4-H Junior Leader Club held its monthly meeting at the East Carroll Parish Library. Special guest Ana-Alicia Gouge, Community and Economic Development Specialist with the LSU AgCenter, introduced the teens to the concept of community assets and their importance in community development.

The Junior Leaders identified local attractions, businesses, historic sites, and other valuable resources in East Carroll Parish as part of an upcoming tourism project. We’re excited to see these young leaders discover and highlight the unique assets that make our community special!

🍀Making a Difference Through Service! East Carroll and Tensas Parish 4-H’ers joined forces for a service project at Lake Bruin State Park in Tensas Parish! Together, they picked up litter and planted purple irises to help beautify the park. We’re proud of our 4-H’ers for working together to give back to their community and make a lasting impact!

4-H Fishing Clinic! What a beautiful way to spend the first day of fall break! Our youth enjoyed a fun day on the lake while learning valuable fishing skills, including tying knots, casting a fishing pole, identifying fish, and measuring their catch. A special thank you to Mr. & Mrs. Howard for volunteering to host the fishing clinic! You’re appreciated! To volunteers, David Hampton and Ken Baker, Jr., thank you for helping make the day a success, you were awesome!

We also appreciate our 4-H Junior Leaders—Kason C., Dylan L., Heavenlee G., and La’trannon H.—for giving their time to support our younger members.

Beyond learning the basics of fishing, our youth gained valuable life skills, explored outdoor recreation, made memories and had fun on the beautiful lake.

The 2026 Ark-La-Miss Livestock Show was a success! East Carroll Parish’s newest livestock exhibitor, Chase E., proudly showed his Dutch rabbit. A special thank you to Andrea Jinks and Heather Harper for helping make this project possible! We even had the opportunity to meet Lt. Governor Billy Nungesser! It’s always great to meet supporters of East Carroll Parish and Louisiana 4-H!

Star Academy’s 7th Grade 4-H Club discussed cancer and completed a service project in recognition of Breast Cancer Awareness Month by creating pins to donate in support of breast cancer awareness.

The Regional Leadership Board Kickoff meeting at The University of Louisiana @ Monroe was a success. Youth from across the region discussed plans for the upcoming year!
