What better way to build a community of readers than by sharing the childhood books that inspired us? 📚

For Dr. Katy Rudolph, principal of Hillcrest Elementary, one of her favorite traditions inspires a lifelong love of reading. Hillcrest created a special display featuring photos of teachers and staff holding their favorite books from when they were elementary students. It gives kids a fun peek into their teachers' childhoods while encouraging them to pick up a new book themselves. Students love stopping by to see what their teachers read at their age and discovering new favorite stories of their own!

Strong families build strong communities! Our fall Strengthening Families program is underway at Lake Stevens Middle School. This free, evidence-based program brings parents/caregivers and children together to build parenting skills, strengthen communication, develop social skills and create positive family connections. 🥰

A special thank you to Chick-fil-A Soper Hill for generously providing dinner for the first session!

Handshakes make it official! 🤝

This week, Superintendent Dr. Mary Templeton administered the Oath of Office to our Student Advisory Council’s newest officers. President Tavisha Srivastava and Secretary Ritisha Srivastava are already experienced members of the council, and now they are using that experience to help lead the council.

The Student Advisory Council is a student-driven organization dedicated to providing student voice on important matters being considered by the School Board.

This special event acts as a powerful moment to honor the incredible learning, personal growth and lasting memories every student builds throughout the year before they make the meaningful jump to their next grade level.

October is National Principals Month, and we are celebrating our school leaders by highlighting their favorite campus traditions!

For Matt Pewitt, principal of Stevens Creek Elementary, nothing beats the excitement of the school's three yearly House Chant-Off competitions. Students collaborate to write and perform original chants, while guest judges from the community face the tough task of picking a winner. It's a high-energy celebration of teamwork, pride and belonging!
