27-year-old Ian Carrasquillo-Hernandez was arrested on Saturday, October 24, in connection with the alleged physical abuse of an infant. He was charged with Aggravated Child Abuse, Violation of Pretrial Release Conditions after an arrest for Dating Violence, Domestic Violence-Battery and Resisting an Officer without Violence.
The victim’s mother reported that she had left the infant in the care of Ian Carrasquillo, in good health with no visible injuries. Upon returning, she discovered multiple injuries; including significant swelling and bruising to the infant’s face, injuries to the neck, wrist, stomach, and swelling around her eyes that left them nearly swollen shut.
The victim’s mother also reported that when she confronted Carrasquillo about the injuries, he became angry and pushed her, causing her to fall to the ground. According to her statement, Carrasquillo told her, “If you want me gone, you’ll have to call the police.” She subsequently left the residence with the infant and sought assistance from law enforcement.
Responding officers observed the fresh injuries to the infant including swelling to the upper lip and crusted blood near the infant’s mouth. Emergency medical personnel transported the child for treatment. Medical personnel assessed the injuries and determined they were consistent with injuries inflicted by another person. The infant remains in critical condition.
Additionally, the victim’s mother reported that Carrasquillo sent her a text message while she was away stating, “your child is annoying me.” Carrasquillo did not explain what the infant had been doing that annoyed him.
When officers confronted Carrasquillo, he attempted to barricade the door to prevent them from entering. Despite his efforts, officers entered the residence, took control of him and placed him under arrest.
Carrasquillo was previously arrested by Lake Wales Police on August 31, 2026 for Domestic Violence Aggravated Battery on a Pregnant Victim. At the time of his arrest, he was on pre-trial release for that case.
