📅 Upcoming Special Meeting
Our goal is to ratify the 2027 budget at a special meeting on November 10 at 4:00 p.m. at Key Peninsula Fire Headquarters, immediately before the regular Board of Commissioners meeting at 5:00 p.m.

🚒 Fire District Update

At last night’s Board meeting, commissioners approved moving forward with a temporary shared Assistant Chief arrangement between Key Peninsula Fire District and South Kitsap Fire & Rescue.

Recruitment for a permanent Assistant Chief will be deferred for at least 60 days. This period will allow South Kitsap Fire Chief Faucett and Key Peninsula Fire Chief Swinhart to evaluate how well the shared arrangement works and determine whether a longer-term partnership makes sense or whether to return to the traditional recruitment process.

The next step is to develop an interlocal agreement (ILA) that will allow one of South Kitsap’s Assistant Chiefs to temporarily serve as Key Peninsula Fire’s Assistant Chief, with the responsibilities and authority associated with the position.

There are still details to work through, but Chief Swinhart anticipates having the arrangement in place within the next month.

We appreciate our partnership with South Kitsap Fire & Rescue and will continue to keep our community informed as this process moves forward.

Structure Fire on Yeazell. KP units receiving mutual aid from Gig Harbor and Kitsap units… Fire Marshal dispatched-cause unknown.

Units are currently on scene of a collision in the area of Cornwall and the KP Highway- The scene involves four cars on the side of the road currently the northbound lane is blocked. Please use caution in the area.

Update from our Goat baaaaatalion. Their shift is drawing to a close. Tuesday they will be moving on……. Their hard work and dedicated chomping is very much appreciated!
