🛏💤A safer sleep space is a simple one.
Babies spend a lot of time sleeping, and their sleep environment plays an important role in keeping them safe.
A baby's sleep space should have:
✔️A firm, flat, level sleep surface
✔️A tightly fitted sheet
✔️No pillows
✔️No loose blankets
✔️No stuffed animals or toys
✔️No crib bumpers or other soft items
Babies should also be moved to a safe, flat sleep space if they fall asleep in places such as a swing, stroller, or car seat once transportation is complete.
It can be tempting to add something soft or cozy to make a baby's space feel more comfortable. But for infants, a clear sleep space is the safer choice. Soft surfaces and loose items can create a risk of suffocation or make it harder for a baby to breathe.
Safe sleep does not have to mean being far away from your baby. A crib or bassinet can be placed right next to your bed so your baby stays close while still having their own sleep space.
