🌙 GEE, IT SURE IS GETTING DARK EARLY, ISN'T IT? 🚗💡

As the days get shorter and darkness arrives earlier, the Lakeport Police Department has a bright idea for you... Turn on your headlights! 😎

Many newer vehicles have automatic headlights, which are a great convenience, but don't rely on them entirely. Depending on your vehicle, your daytime running lights and illuminated dashboard may be on even when your headlights and taillights aren't!

Take a moment to familiarize yourself with your vehicle's headlight controls, and don't hesitate to turn your headlights on manually when needed.

While you're at it, check that all your lights are working properly, including your headlights, taillights, brake lights, and turn signals.

Remember, headlights aren't just about helping you see. They're also about helping everyone else see you!

And with cooler, wetter weather approaching, remember to use your headlights during rain, fog, and other conditions that reduce visibility.

Let's keep Lakeport's roads safe this fall and winter!

Lakeport Police Department Celebrates Successful 2026 National Night Out Against Crime

LAKEPORT, CA – The Lakeport Police Department is pleased to announce the successful conclusion of its 2026 National Night Out Against Crime event, held on Tuesday, October 6, 2026. The event brought together community members, law enforcement personnel, governmental and non-governmental organizations, local businesses, and volunteers for an evening dedicated to strengthening community partnerships, promoting public safety, and celebrating the relationships that make Lakeport a special place to live and work.

National Night Out is a nationwide community-building initiative designed to strengthen relationships between law enforcement and the communities they serve while promoting neighborhood camaraderie, crime prevention awareness, and public safety. Lakeport's event once again demonstrated the tremendous value of bringing people together in a positive, welcoming environment.

The Lakeport Police Department extends its sincere appreciation to the many governmental agencies, nonprofit organizations, and community service providers that participated in this year's event. Their representatives generously shared their time, engaged directly with community members, answered questions, and provided valuable information about available programs, resources, and services. Their participation was instrumental in making the evening both enjoyable and informative.

The Department also wishes to recognize the outstanding contributions of the volunteers whose hard work and dedication helped make the event possible. Special appreciation goes to Sarah Eldred, Catherine Prather, the Clear Lake High School Interact Club, and the Kelseyville High School K-Corps. Their willingness to contribute their time and energy exemplifies the spirit of community service that National Night Out seeks to promote.

This event would not be possible without the hard work of the Lakeport Public Works Department and attendance by your Lakeport Police Officers! Equally deserving of recognition are the local businesses, organizations, and individuals whose generous sponsorships and contributions helped support this year's celebration. The Lakeport Police Department proudly thanks the following sponsors:

City of Lakeport Public Works Department, Pak N Mail, Lakeport Kiwanis, Lakeport Cinema 5 & Auto Movies, Clearlake Walmart, Lakeport Grocery Outlet, Brad and Karyn Rasmussen, Lakshmi Cuisine of Indian, Lakeport Hair Design, Jitter Bean, On The Waterfront Restaurant
, Suzie Q's Donuts & Espresso, Davis Tire and Auto, Jimmy's Deli, Southern Smiles Dental, KXBX/KNTI – BiCoastal Media, Flowers By Jackie, Skylark Shores Resort, Strong Financial Network, UCC Rentals, Infinity Consignment, Auto Zone, Lake County Waste Management, Darn Cute Quilts and Fabrics, and Henny's Beauty Salon

"The success of National Night Out is not measured simply by the number of people who attend, but by the relationships we strengthen and the opportunities we create for meaningful community engagement," said Lakeport Police Chief Dale Stoebe. "Events like this remind us that public safety is a shared responsibility. Our officers cannot accomplish our mission alone, and we are fortunate to serve a community where businesses, service organizations, volunteers, and residents consistently demonstrate their willingness to be part of the solution. I am especially grateful to everyone who contributed their time, resources, and energy to making this year's event a success."

The Lakeport Police Department recognizes that strong community relationships are built through consistent communication, mutual respect, and trust. National Night Out provides an important opportunity for residents to interact with law enforcement officers and community partners outside of emergency situations, fostering familiarity and strengthening the partnerships that contribute to a safer community.

To everyone who attended, volunteered, participated, or sponsored this year's National Night Out, thank you. Your continued support reflects the very best of Lakeport's community spirit, and we look forward to building upon this year's success in future events.
